The Zentrum für Politische Schönheit (ZPS) is mostly financed through donations from its "accomplices". For this reason, it is particularly important to treat the accomplices well, so that they stay accomplices.
When becoming an accomplice, one is taken into a circle of insiders. You become information and details in advance concerning the controverse artistic actions. To take an oath into this community, each accomplice gets a piece of coal at the beginning. The coal stands as a symbol of the burned hope of the past, and sets an iconic sign on the faces of the activists.
The ZPS wants to involve its accomplices more. With the coal, each accomplice becomes themselves a part of the action, if needed.
